Final Countdown to WFSB Going HD

You may have noticed some subtle changes as you watch Eyewitness News.  We are in the process of going to high definition, hi-def, or commonly called HD.

I won’t bore you with all the engineering and science behind it, but basically your picture will be getting clearer.  HD makes watching football a whole new experience, and you can actually see a blade of grass.

Grass is fine but what about people?    Legend has it that HD will reveal every wrinkle, pimple or bloodshot eye.    Our technical guys here say that is not necessarily true.

Denise was worried if she would go from looking like this,

to this:

or even this:

Our thanks to the Evil Queen from Snow White and Mama from the Addams Family for the use of their wrinkled visages.

The ageless Al had his concerns, too.

Would viewers notice if he did a poor job shaving?

Rest assured, we are told our new HD cameras are the best around, and your Eyewitness News programs and the people who bring them to you will look pretty much  the same.     Overall, going HD will greatly enhance your experience watching the news.    The breaking news, sports highlights, and investigative reports will all be much clearer.

Look for us to be fully HD by late spring, early summer.    We have lighting to change, sets to rework and plastic surgery and skin peels to undergo.

Just kidding.   Besides, we’ll always look better than some of the other folks who show up on Eyewitness News.

Still, wouldn’t it be nice if they could come up with technology to make us look younger?

  1. it’s about time

    • First on the scene, last with HD. Now I can finally watch your newscasts again. As the original poster stated, “it’s about time”!

  2. Dennis, let me say I am a fan of ‘FSB 3 and you, Denise and Al Terzi. I guess this shows some of the humor Denise is known for in the newsroom. By the way, I get WFSB 3 Fairfield County on Cablevision, which is a subchannel only for Cablevision customers. The engineering department might answer this, but will WFSB’s HD signal affect WFSB F.C? Some of the other CT stations on Cablevision are HD. Am waiting for FSB-HD.

    • Probably not. The main channel is already in HD, it is just the news broadcast that is making the switch.

  3. Dennis – If Denise and Al look like this, what do you suppose you might look like?

  4. Congrats, I look forward to seeing it!

    poor Denise, that wasn’t nice…

  5. You’re funny Dennis, but who are you trying to kid. We know who is using botox and who isn’t. :-)

  6. ALL of your on-air talent better be worried. Some of you look rough now, hiding behind NON HD, I can’t imagine what Scott and Irene will look like at 430, or the 30 something, ala 50 looking Mark Dixon. Denise will never age, but the rest of you (including Dennis) best worry and get some GOOOD makeup.
can’t believe you’re the last in the area going HD.

  7. its about time ..
i also was not watching the news cast because i hate SD.
it will now be intersesting to see if the reports from the field are shot in HD. thanks for catching up with the technology WFSB. its about time .. and dont worry dennis, we allready understand engineering and science behind it.

  9. now if CBS would start putting their shows on OnDemand everything would be all right

  10. Does this mean that Craig Ferguson will finally be in hd?

    • More important….will WFSB allow Craig Ferguson to be seen at his scheduled time, which is immediately after Dave Letterman?
It drives me NUTS to have to wait till 1:07 am.

      • I dvr it, so that doesn’t matter to me, but it’s been in hd for many months. WFSB told me it was because of Entertainment Tonight being in hd. What a waste!

    • WFSB, please carry Craig in HD. This is 2011 c’mon guys.

  11. I’ll bet Miss Hedgeus will look even better in HD. ;)

  12. Thank goodness! I was starting to worry about you guys. And poor Denise and Al! You are one lucky guy, given they put up with you, like that. In any case, congratulations! I can’t wait to finally see WFSB in HD!

  13. now you just need to get back on charter just inside MA we had you and watched everyday but for some reason they took you off and now i have to read the internet to see what is going on. MISS you

  14. late spring early summer???? What is taking so long? WFSB should have been HD from the time they moved to the new facilities. Ridiculous that it has taken this long and you are not even in 16:9 yet

  15. Believe it or not. Denise is 52 yrs. old. If I were a betting woman, I’d say she’s had a little tweeking done.

  16. Could somebody please tell me how you could build this new studio a few years ago and not include HD back then? Now you have to retrofit? Didn’t you guys make enough money from the election? Seriously, I can’t understand this. NBC 30 was way ahead of you.

  17. BLOK Charity…
